The Royal Crescent is one of the most iconic architectural landmarks in the ancient city of Bath. Jane Austen knew Bath very well, and some of the most famous scenes from Persuasion are set there. Fashionable both for its healing “waters” and baths, it also had it’s own “season” when people would flock to the city for entertainment, balls, parties, concerts and plays!

Empress Josephine was a major “influencer” and style setter in the Regency period, the Napoleonic wars notwithstanding!  As the Empire period went forward, the simplistic days of the French Revolution were abandoned in favor of Roman Empire-inspired decor, fashion, and over the top celebrations.  Though she would not have been familiar with the famous Creme Brûlée dessert, we feel certain Empress Josephine would approve of this tea….
